1. Q1 How much does a Boat Charter Dubrovnik cost?

Half-day (4 hrs) starts at €150 (Pasara 5 HP, no licence, up to 4 guests). Larger half-day boats: Barracuda 530 RIB €220 · Fisher 20 €280 · Cap Camarat 6.5 CC and Quicksilver 675 €300 · Barracuda 545 RIB €270 · Quicksilver 755 SD €400 · Quicksilver 805 SD €450. Full-day (8 hrs) ranges €200–€650 on the same vessels. Cap Camarat 9.0 CC flagship is full-day only at €600. Captain optional on every whole-boat charter at €70 flat. The cheapest per-head option is the €55 / pp Fish Picnic shared full-day. Every price includes fuel, safety gear, snorkelling kit and the welcome drink.

  2. Q2 Where do charters leave from?

Marina Frapa, Lapadska obala 21a, 20000 Dubrovnik — Gruž Harbour. Ten minutes by taxi from Pile Gate (€10–15). 15–20 minutes on bus 1A or 1B. Five-minute walk from the cruise port. GPS 42.6572° N, 18.0825° E. Free daytime parking on-site.

  3. Q3 Do I need a licence to charter a boat in Dubrovnik?

No, on three of the nine boats. Pasara 5 HP, Barracuda 530 RIB and Fisher 20 Sun-Deck all qualify for Croatia's no-licence exemption. On the six skippered vessels, Marin (or one of the senior captains) holds the Cat. C licence — you do nothing but sit back and choose the music.

  4. Q4 How long is a charter?

Self-drive Pasara 5 HP charters are 4 hours minimum. Most full-day blocks run 8 hours. Half-day skippered = 4 hours. Multi-day yacht charters with overnight at Lopud, Mljet, Hvar or Korčula — May–October, on request. You set the duration; we charge per hour-block.

  5. Q5 Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

No. CE-approved life jackets are provided on every seat, and the captain stays with you at every swim stop. Non-swimmers can stay on the boat. Children aged 4+ are welcome with child-size life jackets. Charter has no minimum age — under-4s welcome with parent.

  6. Q6 What happens if the weather is bad?

Marin makes the call by 07:00 the morning of departure. Skipper-cancelled = 100% refund or free reschedule, your choice. Most marginal-weather days are still sailable; we re-route to sheltered waters (Lokrum, Šipan's lee shore, Lopud bay) when the open Adriatic is rough.

  7. Q7 Can I bring food and drinks aboard?

Yes. No corkage on a Boat Charter Dubrovnik — ever. Glass bottles aren't allowed on the smaller RIBs for safety; cans, plastic and reusable bottles are fine. Alcohol allowed everywhere up to whatever the captain considers safe at sea.

  8. Q8 Are kids welcome?

Yes — every age. Children aged 4+ ride with child-size life jackets; under-4s travel free at the captain's discretion provided a parent holds them at all times. The Cap Camarat 6.5 CC and Cap Camarat 9.0 CC are the most family-friendly boats in the fleet.

  9. Q9 How far in advance should I book?

July–August: book 2–3 weeks ahead. The Cap Camarat 9.0 CC luxury flagship and the Pasara 5 HP self-drive sell out fastest. Off-season (April–May, September–October): 48 hours' notice is usually enough. Same-day bookings sometimes possible — WhatsApp Marin to check.

  10. Q10 What's in the fleet?

Three self-drive (no licence): Pasara 5 HP (4 pax) · Barracuda 530 RIB (5 pax) · Fisher 20 Sun-Deck (6 pax). Six skippered: Cap Camarat 6.5 CC (8 pax) · Quicksilver 675 (6 pax) · Barracuda 545 RIB (6 pax) · Quicksilver 755 SD (9 pax) · Quicksilver 805 SD (10 pax) · Cap Camarat 9.0 CC luxury flagship (12 pax). Plus the Fish Picnic shared-charter day-boat (8 pax). All licensed by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea.

  11. Q11 What's included in the price?

Skipper (on skippered charters), full tank of fuel, CE life jackets, snorkelling gear (mask, fins, snorkel), beach towels, welcome drink (cold pošip · prosecco on the Cap Camarat 9.0), Bluetooth speaker, bimini sun canopy, anchor, rope, 20-min safety briefing. Not included: lunch (we book Šunj, Šipan, Pakleni or Hvar tavernas direct for you), gratuity (optional), drinks beyond the welcome glass, national park fees (Mljet €25 / pp paid on the island).

  12. Q12 Can I customise the route?

Yes — that's the whole point. Send Marin your wish list (Blue Cave, Lokrum, Cavtat, Šunj, Pakleni Islands, secret cove, sunset return, dolphin search) and the day gets routed around it. Custom routing is free. Price is per boat, not per stop.

  13. Q13 Cancellation policy?

Three tiers: 24+ hours before departure: 100% refund. 12–24 hours: 50%. Less than 12 hours: no refund. Skipper-cancelled for weather is always 100% refund or free reschedule. Refunds: 5–10 business days for cards / bank transfer, 3–5 days for PayPal.

  14. Q14 Is the Blue Cave near Dubrovnik the same as the Biševo Blue Cave?

No. The Biševo Blue Cave is near Vis island, 300 km northwest of Dubrovnik — not reachable as a day-trip from Marina Frapa. The cave we visit is on Koločep island in the Elaphiti archipelago, 20 minutes by speedboat from Marina Frapa. Same physics, different cave.

  15. Q15 What's the best time of day to see the blue light?

09:00–13:00 on sunny days. The sun angle through the underwater opening is brightest in that window. The morning charter departs 09:00 and is inside the cave at 09:30 — peak. Afternoon light is softer and greener; sunset light is amber.

  16. Q16 Multi-day yacht charter?

Yes — overnight at Lopud, Mljet, Korčula or Hvar, May–October, quote on request. Cap Camarat 9.0 CC and Quicksilver 805 SD are the typical multi-day vessels. Includes skipper, fuel, mooring fees, breakfast aboard. Email Marin direct: info@boatcharterdubrovnik.com.

  17. Q17 Hotel pickup?

No — and we don't pretend otherwise. Marina Frapa is a 10-minute, €10–15 taxi from any Old Town hotel. We can book the taxi for you. Operators that do offer hotel pickup typically add €30–50 per booking.

  18. Q18 Tipping?

Not expected, always appreciated. Cash on the dock at the end of the day. 10% is the customary range when the day went well.

  19. Q19 Can I bring my dog?

Yes on every charter — friendly dogs welcome. Tell Marin in advance and the captain brings a non-slip boat mat.

  20. Q20 How do I pay?

Stripe (any card) or PayPal at booking — 25% deposit confirms the charter. Balance on the boat in cash (EUR) or by card. SEPA bank transfer accepted for full-day skippered and multi-day yacht charters.

  21. Q21 Wedding or proposal charters?

Yes — 6–8 sunset proposal charters per season. Flag at booking; the captain coordinates the moment, anchors in the proposal cove, prosecco ready. Optional photographer add-on (€150) — we work with two trusted Dubrovnik photographers.

  22. Q22 Onboard toilet?

On the smaller RIBs and the Pasara, no — the longest stretch between island stops is 30 minutes; every island has facilities. On the Quicksilver 755 SD and Quicksilver 805 SD cabin charters, yes — onboard WC plus indoor cabin.

  23. Q23 What languages on board?

English on every boat. Croatian, Italian, conversational German with Marin. Spanish or French on request — flag at booking and we assign accordingly.

  24. Q24 Off-season charter?

October by appointment — one of the best months actually: 22°C sea, few crowds, golden light. November–March we run weather-permitting sunset and panorama bookings; full-island charters pause until April.

  25. Q25 Can I see the licences and insurance?

Yes — the compliance file is open. Email Marin and the relevant certificate arrives as a PDF the same hour. Listed in full on the about page with issuing authorities and registration numbers.
